Friday the 13th arrived and with all our fingers crossed the PTA Spring Quiz sprung into action with thankfully no major hiccups.
Fifteen enthusiastic teams battled against one another to win the coveted prize of the Alexander Hosea School PTA Quiz Night Trophy.
Held on the same night as Comic Relief the atmosphere was one of fun and merriment with many a red wig or two bobbing about, especially in one particular ladies team!
With a heavily discounted bar, local Wickwar beer on tap, wine by the bottle and a superb raffle the evening flew by. Rounds seem to get quicker and spookily the questions seemed to get easier too!
The raffle prizes were exceptional with many of our local pubs and restaurants donating meal vouchers, huge thanks go to La Passionate, The Pear Tree and The Brimsham Park, with several other local donations being kept for our big St Georges Night Raffle.
In the end it was a close call with ‘Colonic Relief' pipping the ‘Charship Enterprise' to the post, closely followed in third place by the ‘TA's', who were our winners last time around. Congratulations to our winning team.
I also want to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Andy Wilson who was our fantastic quizmaster for the evening and for all the hard work and research that Andy put in beforehand to ensure the evening was a huge success.
The evening raised a grand total of £520.65 with a separate donation of £44 going towards the school's Comic Relief fund. Thank you to everybody who left their loose change in our collection box at the bar.
Finally I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped set up and clear away at the end of the evening and also a big thank you to those of you (including all our new faces) who supported us and came along to take part.
I hope to see you all again at our next PTA fundraising event - our St Georges Night ‘Decades of Dance' Disco on Saturday 25th April from 7pm in the Community Rooms.
