The day of the Fun Run arrived once again to the accompaniment of torrential rain; enough to put off the most determined of runners however 94 hardy souls remained undeterred and duly turned up to register for the 6th Wickwar Fun Run.
The first past the post this year was 16 year old Thomas Wintle who completed the course in an amazing 19 minutes and 20 seconds. He was closely followed by Alistair Lee in second place and Felix McGrath in 3rd place.
This year we had a new ‘family category’ for the first family to get 3 members over the finish line. This was won by The Bakers with great times from Louise, Claire and James. The Lee family came second.
A special mention deserves to go to Nick Lee who was raising money to go to the Himalayas with the scouts next year. He ran the whole race dressed as a mountaineer complete with what looked like a very heavy chain and won a trophy for 1st under 16 fancy dressed runner. The under 12’s fancy dressed category was won by Jess Haines (aged 8) dressed as a pirate. The only adults to run in fancy dress were Annette Mackie and Lindsey Caley who looked great in their hockey outfits and won a bottle of wine for their efforts.
Thanks to everyone who turned up to run, support or help out.
